 Welcome to Homes in Spain

The Costa Blanca Is situated on the South East coast of Spain, and is
known as the "White Coast", and is a favourite holiday destination for
the Spanish. The area from Alicante in the North, and then southwards to
the Mar Menor is a region of contrasting landscapes and rugged
coastline covering every aspect of Spanish life from bustling,
cosmopolitan towns to traditional Spanish villages. your chance to tell your visitors all about your
company, products, services. Don't forget to have a little fun and let your
personality shine through. Our offices are located in the busy seaport of Torrevieja which has
everything for the family holiday, miles of sandy beaches, watersports,
funfairs, outdoor markets, endless bars, beaches, restaurants and cafes
along with excellent childrens' play facilities.
It has a superb climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year, and the
average temperature is around 20 degrees. It is also a very healthy and dry
climate as there is no heavy industry in the area, and the salt lagoons
draw the moisture from the air, making the climate ideal for people
with arthritis, psoriasis and asthma. The benefits are almost immediate,
and is the main reason that the World Health Organisation recommend it
as one of the healthiest places in Europe to live.

Torrevieja
In recent years the local economy has hugely expanded due to the tourist
industry. This includes both a strong contingent of British, Germans
and Scandinavians, many of whom live here all the year round, and
Spanish tourists who have a holiday home in the city. In 2004 Torrevieja
had the largest number of British residents
of all the Spanish municipalities (approx. 7,180). The city is a
conservative stronghold, with the Partido Popular holding 15 seats in
the local assembly.
The world-famous Habaneras festival for choral groups is held every
August, when the city population expands roughly tenfold, like many
other towns along the Costa Blanca.
Until 1802, Torrevieja existed only as an ancient guard tower, which
gave the town its name (Torre Vieja (Spanish) means Old Tower) and a
few labourers' cottages. In 1803, Charles IV authorized the movement of
the salt mines from La Mata to the town of Torrevija itself, and allowed
the construction of dwellings there.
Alfonso XIII gave Torrevieja city status by special grant. During this
period, there was also a growing market for flax, hemp and cotton
although to this day the salt remains a very important income and way of
life to many people who's family's have worked them for generations and
will continue to do so as long as the countries in Europe have the
need for salt on the roads and not forgetting the dinner table.
In the 19th Century, the salt was mainly shipped from the town by
Swedish and Dutch ships. At that time, there was only limited demand
from other regions of Spain, mainly Galicia and to a lesser extent,
Valencia. Although by the dawn of the 20th Century, a quarter of all the
salt mined in Torrevieja, was sold in Spain itself and the rest
exported was to foreign markets. Today, it is still an important
industry in Torrevieja. You can visit the Museum of Sea and Salt.
Costa Calida
The Costa Cálida (Warm Coast) is the approximately 250 km stretch of
Mediterranean coastline of the Spanish province of Murcia. This region
has a micro-climate which features comparatively hot mean annual
temperatures hence its name, "Warm Coast"
The area extends from El Mojón in the north near the province of
Alicante, to near the municipality of Águilas in the south bordering on
the region of Almería province.
The northern end of this coastline includes the Mar Menor ("Little
Sea"), a coastal saltwater lagoon which at around 170 km2 is Europe's
largest. The Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a
22km-long spit of land called La Manga, (The Sleave) on which most of
the tourism development for the region has been constructed with many
top class golf resorts in the region. Cartagena and Mazarrón are two
other important coastal towns in the region and only 40 minutes drive up
the coast to Torrevieja and on to Alicante.
Centuries of history and numerous civilizations provide the Murcia
Region with a richhistorical and cultural heritage, with highly
representative buildings such as the Cathedral and the Casino in the
capital, the Roman Theatre in Cartagena and the medieval castles of Lorca
and Mula.
Over 30 museums, 22 castles, and remains of fortresses spread across the
entire land complete this region´s appeal, a land full of history and a
tremendously varied artistic heritage.
Furthermore, today the Murcia Region is experiencing enormous growth,
with new, modern infrastructures, while concurrently sustaining
meticulous respect for the environment. Development that endows it with a
special uniqueness, resulting from a mix between tradition and
modernity, and ranks it as one of the Regions with greater tourist
interest, with an extensive offering of culture, leisure and services.
And very soon there will be the coastal railway linking the entire
coastline from far south up through Torrevieja, Alicante through to
Valencia Barcelona and access to the rerst of Spain and europe.
